Wolsey-Wessington opened the 2026 football season with a 14-6 victory over Arlington, scoring all 14 points in the first half before holding the Cardinals scoreless over the final three quarters.
Freshman quarterback Ty Boomsma completed 14 of 19 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball five times for 23 yards.
Junior Demone Odum led the receiving corps with three catches for 100 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, freshman Roman Rearick recorded 13 tackles, including five tackles for loss.
The Warbirds led 8-6 after the first quarter and added six points in the second to take a 14-6 advantage into halftime.
Wolsey-Wessington returns home Friday, Aug. 28, to take on Gettysburg. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Wolsey.
