Warbirds Pick Up Key Wins Over Winter Break

The Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds put together a productive winter break stretch, earning a key win over Bennett County before closing the holiday schedule with a victory against Faulkton Area.

The Warbirds opened play on December 30 with a strong 65 – 53 victory over Bennett County. Wolsey-Wessington built its offense through efficient shooting and balanced contributions, led by Larz Tvedt, who scored 16 points. Tvedt connected on 6 of 11 shots from the field, including three three-pointers, while also adding two assists and two steals.

Caleb Richmond followed closely with 15 points and six assists, while Sawyer Nelson added a solid all-around performance with 12 points and a game-high 12 defensive rebounds. The Warbirds also received eight points from Jett Kleinsasser and six from Clay Kahre, using depth and rebounding to maintain control throughout the contest.

Wolsey-Wessington returned to the court on January 3, winning 64 – 57 to Faulkton Area in a tight matchup. The Warbirds showed strong effort and offensive balance, with Richmond leading the way with a game-high 26 points. Richmond was aggressive at the free-throw line, going 8 of 12, and added three steals in the effort.

Tvedt finished with nine points, while Kleinsasser also scored nine on efficient shooting. Nelson contributed seven points and six rebounds, and Kahre added six points.

Next up, the Warbirds hit the road; first they’ll take on Miller January 6, James Valley on the 8th and compete in the Round Ball Classic January 10.
