Wessington Springs 6, Winner 4
Mason Schelske’s hot bat and Terrek Butterfield’s steady arm helped keep the Wessington Springs Owls alive in Pony Hills district tournament play with a 6-4 win over Winner on Sunday.
Schelske went 2-for-3 at the plate, driving in four runs with a double and a pair of key hits. Trevor Kenobbie added two doubles, while Parker DeJean and Clay Olinger each chipped in an RBI.
Butterfield earned the win on the mound, throwing 7.2 innings and allowing four runs on four hits and four walks, while striking out seven.
The victory eliminated Winner from the tournament and sends Wessington Springs forward in postseason play.
