The third annual Saddles and Spurs Women's golf tournament was held July 28 at the Springs Country Club. Fourteen teams competed in the 18-hole Saddles tournament and 11 teams participated in the 9-hole Spurs tournament. Mother Nature cut the tournaments short with a severe thunderstorm, and the Saddles were flighted on their first nine holes.
“It was a fun day with good food, great friends and plentiful door prizes from our communities and members. The bar staff kept us well hydrated, the grounds crew had the course in great shape, and all the ladies in the league stepped up with food, prizes, decorations, serving and cleanup,” said event organizer Gloria Vavra. “It was a great day to be on the course, and although it cut the event short, we were blessed with much-needed rain.
