Congratulations to the seven Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/ Wolsey-Wessington wrestlers that qualified for state: boys wrestlers Jack Carter (113), Kaydin Carter (120), Ashton Hill (126), Ethan Rearick (144), Tyson Eddy (175), Holden Havlik (215) and girls wrestler Bailey Yost (114).
Two Wessington Springs High School (WSHS) student athletes are among the state-bound crew, with Havlik heading into this weekend rated third in his weight class in the state. Yost serves as the first girls state qualifier in WSHS history.
A community send off is scheduled in Wessington Springs at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21. The Wessington Springs Volunteer Fire Department will lead the wrestlers down Main Street and south on Dakota Avenue before heading out of town.
“This is the best we’ve ever done with individual qualifiers. They’ve worked really hard this year and it shows,” said Adam Haake, Assistant Coach. “We appreciate the community support.”
