WSHS Student Plans Playday for Senior Project: Postponed to Oct. 1 Due to Weather

A love of horses and playdays motivated Wessington Springs High School (WSHS) senior Abby Kolousek to take on organizing one of her own, set for October 1, 2023 at the Jerauld County 4-H Grounds in Wessington Springs.

Central Electric awards grants to area groups in Kimball, Gann Valley

Central Electric Cooperative recently awarded a $500 grant to the South Dakota Tractor Museum, a $500 grant to the Gann Valley Community Center and a $1,000 grant to Buffalo County Rural Fire District through Operation Round-Up.
Two longtime employees were celebrated for their service at a celebration held August 12, 2023 at the Weskota Manor nursing home. LaVonne Cashman and Dave Bender worked for 41 and 19 years, respectively, at the nursing home, calling the staff and residents of the Manor their second families.

On Saturday, August 12, the Manor dining room was buzzing with activity to celebrate two longtime employees that poured their heart into what they both called their “second family” at the nursing home.

WSHS alumni Isaac Kolousek, a senior at the South Dakota School of Mines, traveled with his print edition of the True Dakotan to Bayer Crop Science North American Headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. He spent the summer there interning for the company.
