Businesses invited to be part of Pheasants Forever Opening Day event

Area businesses have an opportunity to put themselves in front of visiting hunters, and help showcase Wessington Springs to a national audience, when Pheasants Forever comes to town for South Dakota’s pheasant opener.

Businesses interested in getting involved are invited to an informational meeting Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 5 p.m. at the Art Loft, next to the True Dakotan on Main Street in Wessington Springs.

Pheasants Forever will be in Wessington Springs Oct. 1617 to film an installment of its national “Opening Day” series, highlighting the community, its businesses and the traditions surrounding pheasant hunting.

As part of the visit, Bob St. Pierre, Pheasants Forever’s chief marketing and communications officer and host of the “On the Wing” podcast, will be in Wessington Springs. St. Pierre will spend time in the community and record an “On the Wing” podcast featuring a roundtable discussion.

On Saturday morning, Oct. 17, Wessington Springs will “Roll Out the Orange Carpet” from 7-9 a.m. on Main Street. Plans include an FFA opening day breakfast, activities and opportunities for Main Street businesses to offer specials and welcome visiting and local hunters.

Businesses are encouraged to attend Wednesday’s meeting to learn how they can participate, promote their business and help make Wessington Springs a destination for hunters on opening weekend.

No commitment is necessary to attend; businesses are encouraged to come hear what is planned, ask questions and bring their own ideas.
