From the Halls of WSHS: Artist’s Corner

From the halls of Wessington Springs High School, we begin our Artist’s Corner for the school year.

Our first project this year was completed by Advanced Art I junior, Darcy Ormsmith. Darcy created a very unique painting where she cut open the canvas and added a 3-dimensional computer screen behind the painting. The canvas front and sides were painted with acrylic paint. She took a lot of time adding in many small details and light to dark blending to create a 3D look on a flat 2D surface. Then she attached cardboard behind the canvas (where she cut the hole) so that she had an open space to add in three-dimensional creatures made out of air dry clay. She then painted both the cardboard and the creatures in great detail.

This entire project took her many hours outside of class. However, her time and effort paid off into one very amazing project!
