WS Elementary students to help create mural with artist Mary Wipf

The walls of Wessington Springs Elementary will soon become a canvas for creativity as students work alongside renowned South Dakota artist Mary Wipf to design and paint a new mural in the school’s elementary building.Wipf will be in residency Oct. 27 through Nov.

The Wolsey-Wessington School District has completed several major improvements to its outdoor facilities as part of an ongoing capital project aimed at enhancing safety and accessibility across campus.

Applications for the Wessington Springs Area Community Foundation (WSACF) fall grant cycle must be submitted by October 30, 2025.Applications may be picked up at the Wessington Springs Chamber & Development office or obtained online at sdcommunityfoundation.org.

Harvest season meets hunting opener: motorists urged to use caution on rural roads

Farm equipment has been rolling steadily across the region this month as area producers push through soybean harvest and prepare to begin corn harvest in the weeks ahead. The busy harvest season coincides with another South Dakota tradition, the opening of pheasant season on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Horizon Health is sponsoring a special flu shot clinic at the Wessington Springs Senior Center.The clinic is scheduled for October 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Walkins are welcome for the annual vaccination. Horizon Health requests that participants bring proof of insurance if available.
