Alpena addresses scooter safety concerns with public education effort

Concerned about close calls involving motorized scooters and underage drivers, the Alpena Town Board invited the Jerauld County Sheriff's Office to last Wednesday's meeting to explain South Dakota law and answer questions from residents about the growing safety issue.

A tornado briefly touched down west of Wessington Springs Thursday afternoon as severe thunderstorms moved across central South Dakota, prompting a tornado warning for Jerauld and Buffalo counties.At approximately 3:45 p.m.
