Spreading Joy, Celebrating the Reason for the Season
A snow plow cleared a path through the wintry mix of snow and freezing rain that had accumulated along Highway 34 and Dakota Avenue south of Wessington Springs Monday. While travelers might not appreciate the precipitation, community New Year’s Eve fireworks organizers welcomed the moisture that prompted Jerauld County Commissioners to lift the burn ban in place since October. With that obstacle removed and enough moisture on the ground to avoid any fire danger, the show is officially a “go” at 6 p.m.
