I wrote my news Monday morning. Delia came to get it later in the forenoon. She said it was windy and cold. Kore Care called and said Kelly Knippling Gran was in the hospital. I heard later she had an accident riding her four-wheeler. I wish her a speedy recovery. I enjoyed the roast beef dinner and cake from the Manor kitchen. Becky and Rydell Krueger came to visit me. Becky took some pictures of Grandma Dar and Rydell and put them on Facebook. Rydell drove back to Rapid City where he lives and has a job. In the evening Becky did two loads of laundry and took the garbage out. I am very grateful.
Tuesday, Loni Reindl did a massage on the pulled muscle in my neck and shoulder. It does feel much better. I enjoyed the pork dinner and cheesecake from the Manor kitchen. In the evening, I went out for a walk and enjoyed the fresh air and exercise.
Wednesday, I was hostess for our 9 a.m. coffee. I had orange plates and orange striped napkins. I served delicious caramel rolls made by Marla Ness and party mix cheese-it crackers and colorful M&Ms. Enjoying the food and fellowship was Joyce Mees, Luella Teveldal, Kathy Brandenburg, Lorraine Schultz, Judy Baumgart and the mail lady Millie. Thanks to Lorraine for making and serving the coffee. I enjoyed the chicken dinner and ice cream from the Manor kitchen. Bingo was played at 2 p.m. Shirley Bender called the numbers. Enjoying the afternoon were Joyce Mees, Doris Deneke, Darleen Cuppy, Judy Baumgart, Marilyn Robbins and Luella Teveldal. No coffee or snack this week.
Thursday, I rode the bus to Angie Mentzer’s beauty shop at 10:30 a.m. for my shampoo and set appointment. I enjoyed the spaghetti dinner and pudding. At 6 p.m. I watched the football game on the school channel 382. The WS/W/SC Bucks played the Winner Warriors. Winner won 20-12.
Friday, I enjoyed the chicken noodle casserole and fruit cobbler.
Saturday, October 25 my daughter Cindy and Fred Zenk of Webster had a red rose delivered to my apartment. It would have been Howard and my 74th anniversary. Howard passed away eleven years ago. He is always in my heart. Saturday evening my daughter Candi Sails came to visit and did several things for me. She took a picture of me with my red rose and put it on Facebook. I have had many comments from family and friends.
Sunday, I rode the bus to the Methodist Church with Joanne Grohs – she wanted to go a little earlier so she could go to her church. Lisa Edwards played a beautiful prelude. The welcome and prayer were given by Pastor Cheri Van Gorp. Several announcements were made and joys and concerns were shared. Several children went down for the children’s message. The noisy offering was taken, we said the Lord’s Prayer, and the regular offering was taken while we sang “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee.” Pastor Cheri’s message was “Called to Be Holy” with scripture 1Peter 1:5-6. We closed with the hymn “Shine Jesus Shine.”
I enjoyed the pork dinner and pie when I got back to my apartment. Later I went for a walk to enjoy the nice weather.
