Foothills News: “Cuppy’s Corner”

I wrote my Cuppy’s Corner News Monday morning. Delia Atkinson got it later in the forenoon. It was a very cold day. The 281 tournament was being played in the Huron Arena. Marcus Damm did a great job announcing the games! Wessington Springs Boys played Sanborn Central/ Woonsocket and won 7661.

Tuesday, I enjoyed the shredded pork sandwich dinner from the Manor kitchen. At 1 p.m. I had physical therapy with Brittany. Kelly Knippling Gran came at 1:30 p.m. and did vacuuming, etc.

Luella Teveldal was hostess for our 9 a.m. coffee on Wednesday. She served delicious apple crisp with cool whip. Enjoying the food and fellowship along with me were Kathy Larson, Joyce Mees and Lorraine Schultz. I enjoyed the fried chicken dinner and cheesecake from the Manor kitchen. At 2 p.m. cards were played in the south dining room. Playing 10-point pitch were Joyce Mees, Shirley Bender, Ruth Jensen and me. At another table were Lyle Pawlowski, Doris Deneke, Luella Teveldal and Marilyn Robbins. Coffee and an assortment of cookies were enjoyed.

I was grateful that the girls and boys 281 tournament games were on the school channel. The Wessington Springs Spartan girls received third place winning 4645 over the Hitchcock-Tulare Pirates. The games were played in the Huron Arena. Marcus did a great job announcing the games. Wessington Springs Spartans boys won over the Wolsey/ Wessington Warbirds, Spartans 58-Warbirds 56.

Friday, I enjoyed the sweet-n-sour chicken over rice and fruit crisp from the Manor kitchen. Baleigh Sails came after school.

Candi Sails worked in Mitchell all day Saturday. Baleigh spent the day with Grandma Dar. My daughter Cindy Zenk of Webster called to let me know that the SDSU Women Jackrabbits were playing the USD Coyotes, Jacks won 79-59.

Sunday Elaine Roetman, Rochelle Witte and I rode the bus with Delia Atkinson to the Methodist Church. Candi and Baleigh Sails served coffee with brownies and sweet breads before church. Diane Winter played the prelude. Pastor Cheri Van Gorp welcomed everyone and said a prayer. We sang “Come, Thou Almighty King.” We had the noisy offering. Several joys and concerns were shared. We all said the Lord’s Prayer. The offering was taken by Jay and Deb Ball. Pastor Cheri’s sermon was Sin-O-Rama with scripture Galatians 5:19-21. We closed with the hymn “Grace Greater Than Our Sin.”

I enjoyed the pork dinner and apple pie from the Manor kitchen.
