Recently word was received about the death of Cecil White in Centralia, Washington. Cecil was a Master Thatcher who constructed the thatched roof on the Anne Hathaway cottage in Shakespeare Garden. He took a special interest in this project. In addition to doing the roof Cecil played a big role in the overall restoration of the cottage. Over a multi-year period he made many trips from his home in Washington to help with repair of doors and windows, the stucco on the outside and to help lay out walkways around the cottage. The attractiveness of the cottage today is due in large part to the contributions of Cecil White who was indeed a rare talent.
