Bitterly cold weather forecast prompts reschedule to Friday, January 30 at 7 p.m.
Wolsey-Wessington High School students will take the stage later this month with a one-act comedy titled The Elf on the Shelf Must Die by Don Zolidis.
The lighthearted production features 16 cast members and three students on the set and crew. Students in grades 9–12 portray a wide range of characters in the fast-paced comedy, which centers on two children who accidentally kill their family’s elf and scramble to cover up the mistake before their parents find out — all while hoping to secure the Xbox they want for Christmas.
Directed by Karen Jensen and Julie Boomsma, the approximately 35-minute play is set in present-day Christmastime and moves between a living room, a tree house and a Walmart. The production is recommended for ages 11 and up.
A public performance has been rescheduled to Friday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m. in the Wolsey-Wessington High School Commons.
The cast will also perform at the regional one-act competition on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the James Valley Christian School, with a 10 a.m. performance time. Admission to the regional performance is free, but audience members must arrive before the performance begins, and photography is not permitted.
