David Frederick Jensen, 68, of Wessington Springs, South Dakota, passed away on April 22, 2026. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 27, 2026, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs. Burial followed at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, also at the church, with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
He was born on March 31, 1958, in Huron, South Dakota. David dedicated his working life to farming, Jensen Grain, Darrell’s Rock Sand and Gravel, and Jensen Haygrinding, from which he eventually retired. He took pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic, steady presence, and commitment to doing things the right way.
Above all, David was a family man. He deeply valued time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren, and especially enjoyed camping and making memories together outdoors. Those who knew him will remember his humor and quick wit—he was a jokester who loved bringing laughter and lightheartedness to those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Jensen (Behr); his children, Kyle McAloon, Mark (Shana) Jensen, and Jimmy Jensen; and his grandchildren, Nate McAloon, Lane Jensen, Landry Jensen, and Lanton Jensen. He is also survived by his mother, Ruth Jensen; siblings, Valerie (Glen) Hohn, Craig (Peggi) Jensen, and Vicki (Orville) Harmdierks; Sister-in-Law, Joan Jensen, as well as many aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
David was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Jensen; his father, Bobby Jensen; his grandparents, Clifford and Nellie Jensen and Ralph and Helen Hindman; and his brother, Steve and wife Vicki Jensen.
He will be remembered for his humor, his devotion to family, and the warmth and laughter he brought into the lives of those around him.
