Jerauld County voters are encouraged to carefully review election information ahead of the June 2, 2026 Primary Election, as ballot options will vary depending on party registration and where voters live.
A sample Republican primary ballot is published on page 9 of this week’s True Dakotan to help voters better understand what races may appear on their ballot before heading to the polls.
According to Jerauld County Auditor Shannon Fagerhaug, the 2026 Primary Election will include multiple ballot styles within each precinct. All federal, state and county races are partisan contests, meaning candidates run within their registered political party. Because only Republican candidates filed petitions at those levels, only a Republican ballot will be available for those races.
Jerauld County will also have a Republican County Commissioner race, though that contest will only appear for voters registered in Commissioner District No. 3.
In addition, ballots will be available for voters living within the Huron and Kimball school districts. Those school races are non-political, meaning all registered voters residing within those districts may participate regardless of party affiliation.
“If you are not a registered Republican, but live within the Huron or Kimball School District, you will still have a ballot available to you,” Fagerhaug explained.
Voters with questions about their registration status or ballot eligibility are encouraged to contact the Jerauld County Auditor’s Office at (605) 539-9301 prior to Election Day.
