Joanne Van Dyke, age 69, of Wessington Springs, died Monday, July 27, 2026, at Weskota Manor in Wessington Springs. Memorial visitation was 6 - 7 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Nurnberg-Basham Funeral Service in Wessington Springs, with a prayer service beginning at 7. Private family inurnment followed.
Joanne K. Van Dyke was born in Huron on August 20, 1956, to Richard and Mrytle (Samson) Van Dyke.
She was a teacher for many years in rural schools in the Pierre and Winner school districts. Joanne also worked at the Ben Franklin Store, J.C. Penny’s, and Lewis Drug in Huron. Joanne always loved hiking in the Wessington hills by the family farm.
She is survived by her brother Jan and his wife JoAnn; nephews, Darrick (Jessica) and Jim (Amy); and niece Alisha. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her infant twin brothers.
