A new July date and two evening rodeo performances didn’t deter fans from gathering at the fairgrounds for the 19th Annual Foothills Rodeo as hundreds of cowgirl and cowboy contestants gave it their all in the arena.
Trucks and trailers filled with a wide variety of livestock and rodeo contestants from around South Dakota and neighboring states drew a crowd to the Foothills Rodeo grounds in Wessington Springs over the weekend.
Bareback riding kicked off Friday and Saturday’s events that included calf roping, goat tying, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, senior men’s breakaway, ladies breakaway, mutton bustin’, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding. More rodeo photos can be found in this issue on PAGE EIGHT
