In an exciting and perhaps unexpected turn of events during district play last week in Chamberlain, the then 1-13 Wessington Springs Owls emerged victorious with a District 3B 17-11 win over Colome, advancing the Owls to the Class B state amateur baseball tournament.
Terrek Butterfield earned the win for Wessington Springs, allowing 11 runs on 14 hits in nine innings, while striking out four.
