Julia Mae Leite Hull, 78, passed peacefully on January 3, 2023, finally succumbing to breast cancer, her journey of nearly sixteen years. She was at home in her bed and in the company of loved ones.
She lived a full life, from breeding and showing her beloved Borzois to her work for TRW and The Aerospace Group, where she met her loving husband, Lowell. She traveled the world, from Canada to California, Florida to Japan, and had plans to visit Portugal and Italy when she passed.
She went back to college while raising two rambunctious children, earning her Bachelor of Arts in English in 1991. She loved movies and would analyze them as if they were great works of literature. She never stopped learning and had a special knack for letting you know her opinions.
She was an extraordinary mother and grandmother, who would do anything for her children and grandson. From getting books about igloos to help them build the best snow fort to quizzing the college student movers about school districts before deciding where to house hunt. She dotingly raised her grandson while her son attended to his graduate studies.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lowell Hull, parents Julia and Manuel Leite, sister Patricia Alden, her siblings Louis Leith, Henry Leith, William Leith, Helen (James) Arterbery, Ruth Leith, and Patricia Leith, and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her children Robert “Vic” (Sara) Hull and Stephanie “Stevie” (Sean) Keefe, her grandson, Logan Hull, siblings Victor Leith, Edward Leith, and Ann (Fred) Lyons, Harold (Mary) Hull, Lois (Robert) Moore, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews Her funeral service will be held Wednesday January 18 at 1 p.m. at the Basham Funeral Home in Wessington Springs. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery at Wessington Springs. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
