As I write my news it is a very cold and windy day in Wessington Springs.
Darleen Cuppy wrote her news last Monday morning, Kristi Hine got it later in the forenoon. Darleen enjoyed the roast beef dinner from the Manor kitchen. We received a lot of snow.
Tuesday Darleen enjoyed the pork sandwich, potatoes, peas and ice cream from the Manor kitchen. Baleigh Sails came to stay with Grandma Dar after school. The Spartans boys played Mount Vernon/Plankinton in the evening.
Wednesday 9 a.m. coffee was served by Kathy Larson. Her sister Eldora Hasz was to serve but was in the Manor to build up her strength. Darleen had a pretty card, and everyone wrote a few lines to Eldora. Then Darleen mailed it. Kathy served tasty cinnamon rolls to Darleen Higgins, Lorraine Schultz, Vera Salter, Judy Baumgart, Joyce Mees and Darleen Cuppy. Pastor Nancy Rieke came later and shared our Saviors Lutheran Church bulletin and word find sheets.
At 2 p.m. cards were played in the south dining room. Enjoying the afternoon were Lyle Pawlowski, Lynette Marken, Ruth Jensen, Joyce Mees, Darleen Higgins, Marlys Shryock, Marilyn Robbins and Darleen Cuppy. Coffee and a bundt cake from Lynette Marken and scones from the Senior Center were enjoyed.
Thursday Darleen Cuppy rode the bus to Angie Mentzer’s for her 10:30 a.m. appointment Darleen enjoyed the chicken strip dinner from the Senior Center. At 1:30 p.m. Kristi Hine came to interview Darleen for writing Cuppy’s Corner News for 50 years! Darleen’s great grandson Brock Krueger stopped in with bracket sheets for the girls and boys 281 basketball tournaments.
Friday January 12th the Wessington Springs girls played Sunshine Bible at 3:30 p.m. in Wolsey. The Spartans girls won 51-14. Darleen is very grateful she can watch the games on the school channel.
Saturday Darleen enjoyed the roast beef dinner from the Manor kitchen. The boys 281 tournament game is postponed to Monday since the chill factor was -50 degrees!!
Sunday was very cold with windchill at -50 degrees. Most church services were canceled. Darleen watched the pre-recorded Christian Worship Hour with Pastor Harold Salem and the service from Sioux Falls Lutheran Church on TV. Darleen enjoyed the meatball dinner and pie from the Manor kitchen. Darleen’s daughter Cathy White called from Sioux Falls in the afternoon.
