“Cuppys Corner”

Darleen wrote her news Monday morning. Delia got it later in the forenoon. Darleen enjoyed the chicken gravy, baking powder biscuit and cool whip & cookies dessert from the Manor kitchen. Viola Cuppy’s daughter Deb called from Texas to visit in the evening.

Tuesday Darleen enjoyed the Salisbury steak dinner and fruit salad from the Senior Center delivered by Joanne Grohs. Darleen’s daughter Cindy Zenk of Webster was working west of Rapid City. (She gives talks on soil conservation, etc.) Cindy stopped to visit Darleen’s twin sister Marleen Caffee in Rapid City. Cindy posted a picture of them on Facebook, good picture of them both. In the evening Darleen enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins play the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona won 5-4.

Wednesday Lorraine Schultz was hostess for our 9 a.m. coffee. She served crackers, two kinds of cheese and ham. Enjoying the food and fellowship were Vera Salter, Judy Baumgart, Luella Teveldal, Pastor Nancy Rieke, Kathy Larson, Joyce Mees and Darleen Cuppy. Wednesday evening Darleen enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins play the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Twins won 8-3.

Thursday Darleen rode the bus to Angie Mentzer’s beauty shop for her 10:30 a.m. appointment. Darleen enjoyed the hot beef, peas & carrots and apple crisp from the Senior Center. Darleen enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Arizona Diamondbacks. The Twins won big 13-6! There was lots of lightning during the night.

Friday Darleen enjoyed the sweet n sour chicken over rice, peas & carrots and fruit crisp from the Manor kitchen. Darleen went for a walk in the evening. At 8:30 p.m. the Minnesota Twins played the Seattle Mariners. Seattle won 3-2 in the 10th inning!

Saturday Darleen’s daughter Cathy White and Nora of Sioux Falls got Darleen’s granddaughter Nicole Cuppy Hedt from the airport. (Nicole flies all over for her work.) They came in the afternoon. We enjoyed visiting out in the patio area, the flowers are so beautiful. Nicole’s husband drove from Faulkton since they were going to a wedding in Alexandria. Darleen’s son Don Cuppy of Mitchell stopped in for a short visit. He was going to the Springs Inn for his 50th reunion of his class. Darleen saw a picture on Facebook, and it looked like a lot attended. At 9 p.m. Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins game with Seattle Mariners. The Twins won 5-1.

Sunday Darleen and Rochelle Witte rode the bus with Jim Deines to the Methodist Church. Lisa Edwards played a beautiful prelude. Welcome and prayer for our country was by Pastor Cheri Van Gorp. We sang “America the Beautiful” and “America.” Joys and concerns, several people had family with health problems. We all said the Lord’s Prayer. Offering was taken. The choir Laura Kieser, Diane Winter, Gretchen Burnison, Jan Krohmer, Lynda and Kirk Luymes, Darrel Winter and Chris Schimke on drums sang “Onward Christian Soldiers.” We had the noisy offering. Pastor Cheri’s sermon was “Freedom is Not Free.” We closed with the hymn “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

Darleen enjoyed the pork roast dinner and pie from the Manor kitchen. At 3 p.m. Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners game. The Twins won 5-3. Later Darleen went for a walk, the weather was pleasant.

Today is July 1st. “If life hands you lemons, make lemonade.”
