James R. Ferguson, Jr.

James R. Ferguson Jr. passed away in Mesa, AZ on October 3, 2024.

James was born in a military hospital at Ft. Sill, OK on March 28, 2000. He grew up in various places due to being in a military family. He attended and graduated from Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls, SD.

He enjoyed coming back to Wessington Springs each year to visit his family. He made sure to leave his mark by helping Grandma Jean and Grandpa Jack cement the sidewalk at 406 College Avenue North, leaving his name and handprint.

James was very active and had natural athletic talents. He loved adventurous sports and was considered free spirited.

James had a passion for music. He wrote and developed his own album. His greatest joy, however, was becoming a father. He loved his daughter so much that he often said he didn’t know how to tell her or express to her in words how much he loved her.

James was 24 years at the time of his departure. He was beginning a life in Arizona with his fiancée and daughter.

James’ love for life and adventure will continue to live on through his daughter Violet.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jack W. Ferguson and his great grandparents John and Lois Forbes, from Wessington Springs, SD.

He is survived by his father, James Robert Ferguson, mother Maria Valdez, younger brother Justin Ferguson, daughter Violet Ferguson, fiancée Shea Booth, grandmother Jean Ferguson and many aunts, uncles and cousins who miss him dearly.

He will be forever loved and always remembered.
