Holiday pie baking action was in full swing at Wessington Springs High School (WSHS) with 260 pies sold through the annual Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) pie sale. The yearly pie sale is the group’s biggest fundraiser and helps fund student FCCLA projects throughout the year.
The service-oriented effort kicks off a series of projects that FCCLA students will undertake over the next month, focused on giving back during the holidays.
“I always require my classes to do a service project,” stated Charlotte Mohling, Family & Consumer Sciences/Technology Skills/Curriculum Director, who has led FCCLA students for decades. “While we take on service projects throughout the year, we are concentrating our efforts throughout this holiday season.”
Pie baking kicks off the ramped up service-effort, with additional service opportunities for the students on the calendar.
Pies can be picked up Wednesday, November 27 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the high school in Mrs. Mohling’s Room.
