It is September 1st as I write my news. Soon the trees will be changing color. Last Monday evening I watched the Minnesota Twins play the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto won big 10-4.
Tuesday my daughter Cheryl Van Asperen of Huron came to take me to the clinic at 10 a.m. for a check-up with Dr. Lim at 11 a.m. I treated her to dinner at the Cone Zone. We visited with daughter Candi Sails a while. In the evening, I watched the MN Twins play the Toronto Blue Jays. The Twins won 7-5. Wednesday Lorraine Schultz was hostess for our 9 a.m. coffee. She had blue plates, and the napkins had two doves with “There’s a warm and friendly welcome here” written under them. She served a delicious dessert. Enjoying the food and fellowship were Joyce Mees, Darleen Cuppy, Judy Baumgart, Luella Teveldal and the mail lady. I enjoyed the spaghetti dinner and pudding from the Manor kitchen. At 2 p.m. bingo was played in the dining room. Shirley Bender called the numbers. Enjoying the afternoon were Marilyn Robbins, Darleen Cuppy, Luella Teveldal, Doris Deneke, Joyce Mees, Judy Baumgart and Eileen Kraft Thomas. Shirley Bender made coffee. Darleen Cuppy and Doris Deneke furnished cookies. My granddaughter Becky Bell Krueger got some things I needed. My daughter Candi Sails came in the evening to visit a while.
Thursday, I rode the bus to Angie Mentzer’s beauty shop for a 10:30 a.m. appointment. I enjoyed the Philly beef sandwich dinner and peach sauce from the Manor kitchen. There was no Twins game tonight.
Friday, I enjoyed a pasta hot dish my daughter Candi Sails brought me for dinner. I went out for a walk early evening. At 7 p.m. the MN Twins played San Diego. The Twins won 7-3.
Saturday, I enjoyed the hot beef sandwich, carrots and chocolate cake from the Manor kitchen. At 6 p.m. the MN Twins played the San Diego Padres. San Diego won big, 12-3.
Sunday, I rode the bus to the Methodist church; others riding were Mary Lou Cameron and Rochelle Witte. Lisa Edwards played a beautiful prelude. We sang “Jesus Calls Us.” There were several announcements; church will be outside next Sunday, and we sang Happy Birthday dear friends. We sang “Let There Be Peace on Earth.” A noisy offering and the regular offering were taken by Neal Doering and Jeff Kieser. We sang the doxology. Marvin Thomas gave the sermon “Familiar love found with families.” We closed with the hymn “Here I Am Lord.”
I spent a fun Sunday afternoon in the south dining room playing Rummy Kub with Sandy Wenzel, Marilyn Robbins, and Doris Deneke. Sandy served coffee and cookies.
I would like to thank whoever has been sharing vegetables and fruit from their garden! They had cucumbers, peppers, bucket of apples, ears of sweet corn, and a big box of small pears. They put them on the table below our mailboxes.
