Bette Jean Davidson
Bette Jean Davidson 87, of Wessington Springs, SD went to be with Jesus surrounded by her family on August 26, 2022.
She was born to Bill Guy and Lucille [Keeton] Santee on March 18, 1935 in Wessington Springs, SD. She married Lyle Davidson on July 10, 1953. Five children were born to this union: Steven, Nikki, Dawn, Toni and Scott.
Mom, grandma, great grandma, and great-great grandma, aunt, cousin, sister, friend, singer, song writer, guitar player, yodeler, counselor, hard worker and plain ole handyperson were all words to describe Bette Jean . She loved her little Quervo [parrot] always loving and talking to her. She has brought into this world love, compassion, empathy and kindness. The world is a better place because you touched our lives. She was truly an amazing and strong person. For 44 years of sobriety she helped so many with a “one day at a time” and “let go and let God” philosophy. She always said “you cannot change someone else, but you can change yourself.”
She is survived by her children Steven [Linda] Davidson, Avoca, WI; Nikki [Mark] Leverton, Lena, IL; Dawn [Greg] Spinhirne, Lena, IL; Toni [Dan] Busker, McConnell, IL; Scott [Audra] Davidson, Rock Falls, IL; 23 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and four great-greatgrandchildren; one aunt, Viola Keeton of Wessington Springs, SD; very special family and friends Joyce Krueger, Jerry Van Den Oever, both of Wessington Springs SD and Angie Peck of Sioux Falls SD; cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded by her parents, Lucille and Bill, brother, Bob Santee, sister-in-law Norma [Kludt] Santee, stepdad Les Hansen, stepsister Dixie Gill.
Service will be at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 210 Dunham Ave N., Wessington Springs, SD on Sept 3. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. and Celebration of Life at 11 a.m.
