Diana Knipfer, 72, of Wessington Springs passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at her home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.
Diana was born on Wednesday, September 20, 1950, to Alvin and Mildred Ibis. She grew up in and around the De Smet and Lake Preston area of South Dakota. She married Richard Gilchrist in December of 1968. She later married Steve Knipfer on July 12, 1991. They made their homes in both Huron, SD, and Gordon, NE at different times. They have spent the last several years in Wessington Springs, SD.
She worked many jobs in her life at various restaurants as both a cook and a waitress.
Her family was the most important thing to her in her life. Raising her children and later some of her grandchildren was one of her greatest joys.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Knipfer of Wessington Springs, daughter Mickie Ibis of Murdo, SD, sons Neal Ibis of Gordon, NE, Curtis Gilchrist of Rushville, NE, and Terry Gilchrist of Springfield, SD, step-children Carrie Knipfer of Garwin, IA and Ryan Knipfer of Wessington Springs, SD. Diana also had numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters Melony Munger, Frankie Olson, Roberta Spencer, Theresa Olsen, and brother Reggie Ibis.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and grandson Braden Gilchrist.
