Gladys Marie Clemetson (Deneke), 77, of Rapid City, passed away Tuesday afternoon October 11, 2022, at the Arrowhead Nursing Home with family by her side.
A celebration of life was held Saturday October 15, at Community Lutheran Church in Hill City, SD. Burial followed at Hill City Cemetery.
Gladys was born April 6, 1945, to Louis Deneke and Alice Smith in Wessington Springs, SD. She attended Wessington Springs schools, graduating in 1962.
Following graduation, Gladys married Robert Clemetson on November 4, 1962, and to this union three children were born. They moved to Hill City in the fall of 1974. Gladys worked as a waitress and cook at various restaurants and was also a cashier at grocery stores in Hill City. Gladys was active in the Hill City Lion/Lioness Club for many years. She spent many years following her children and grandchildren to a variety of activities including football, basketball, volleyball, and rodeo. In August 2019, Bob and Gladys moved to Rapid City to be closer to family.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Clemetson, sister Evelyn Bradley (Gary) and sister-in-law-Doris Deneke, daughters Lesia McLaughlin (John), and Carol Siemonsma, son Kevin Clemetson (Melissa). Grandchildren Colton McLaughlin (Julie), Kendra Michel (Jason), Zachery Siemonsma, Brianna Clemetson, Dawson Clemetson, Allison Clemetson. Greatgranddaughters Kinsley and Kenna McLaughlin, and Rylee Jo Michel.
She is preceded in death by her parents Louis Deneke and Alice Anderson, sisters Sylva Daggitt (Howard) and Dora Bult (Edward) and brother Cecil Deneke.
