Leona Grieve

Leona R Grieve, 85, of WessingtonSpringspassed away Tuesday August 22 at Weskota Manor Avera. Memorial service will be held Saturday, September 9 at 2 p.m. in the Foothills Bible Fellowship Church, Wessington Springs. Inurnment will follow at Hope Cemetery. Pastor Don Grubb will officiate.

Leona was born December 5,1937toAugust and Alta (Stillman) Knigge in Wessington Springs, SD. After finishing school, she worked as a waitress in Springs.

Leona married Verald Grieve on April 1, 1958. Their union was blessed with three children; Debra Bell, Barbara Brouhard and Walter Grieve. Their first years of marriage were spent on the Grieve homestead with Leona filling the duties of a prairie farm wife; raising the children, the garden and being a farmhand when needed.

The family spent additional years living in Wessington Springs, Huron, SD; Topeka and Mayetta, KS; before Verald and Leona returned to Wessington Springs to spend their golden years.

Leona leaves behind her daughters Deb and Barb, her brothers, Lyle and Larry Knigge, five grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Verald, son Walter, two brothers and two sisters.
