Marjorie “Margie” L. Swenson age 89 of Wessington Springs passed Nov 23rd Thursday at Weskota Manor, Wessington Springs. Funeral service was held 11 a.m. Tuesday Nov, 28 at the Basham Funeral Home,WessingtonSprings with visitations one hour prior to service at the chapel. Burial Prospect Hill Cemetery. Pastor Don Grubb officiating.
Marjorie Lee (Buchholz) Swenson was born to Albert and Opal Buchholz in Avon SD on September 16, 1934. She attended grade school in the Crow Lake area.
On February 16, 1951, she married Forrest “June” Swenson. To this union, five children were born, Lois (Ken) Tracy Mitchell SD, Brian (Denise) Swenson Hasting NE; Allan (Jean) Swenson Clay Center NE; Duane (Jo) Swenson KS; and Kevin Swenson KS.
Marge worked at many jobs in her life, to include milking cows and cleaning houses in her teenage years to working in a dry cleaner, and in a window factory as an adult.
She loved bowling, jigsaw puzzles, doing canvas needlework, playing Rummikub with her sisters.
She is survived by her five children, 11 grandchildren, 26 greatgrandchildren, 12 greatgreat grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one grandson, one brother, and three sisters.
