Carylin Larson, 87, of Plankinton, SD, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026, at her home under hospice care in Plankinton. Graveside services were held 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 7, at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Wessington Springs, SD. Cocktails for Carylin were from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday, August 7, at Silio Market in Plankinton. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Carylin Rae Larson was born January 10, 1939, along with her twin sister, Marylin Kay, to Harold Neuharth and Thelma Green in Huron, SD. The family lived in Alpena, SD until moving to Wessington Springs when Carylin was in the 4th grade. Carylin graduated in 1957 from Wessington Springs High School and went on to Stewart Hair School in Sioux Falls.
After graduating, she worked in Huron as a beautician and then in Wessington Springs, ending up with a salon in her home on the farm.
In December of 1958 Carylin married Edward Fink at the United Methodist Church in Wessington Springs. To this union three children were born, Noel, David, and Christopher. Edward died in November of 1985.
In February 1987, Carylin married Danial Larson. Dan and Carylin spent the next 18 years in Ridgecrest CA and traveling in their motor home. After Dan’s retirement, they went full time RVing until health brought them back to Plankinton SD in 2023.
Grateful for her life is her husband, Dan Larson; children: Noel Fink Ahl (husband Patrick Ahl), David (Debbie) and Christopher (Rochelle) Fink, Robert, Christopher and Michael Larson; grandchildren: Tad (Kellie) Devries, Jacob Ahl, Gabrielle, Clara, Noah Fink, Brock (Jenny), and Shawn (Sanday) DuFrain; greatgrandchildren: Olive and Zoie DeVries, Oakley DuFrain, Colt and Ava DuFrain; and sister, Darlene Hille.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Fink; twin sister, Marylin Bigham; and her parents.
