Marie Reindl, age 100, of Wessington Springs, died Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Weskota Manor in Wessington Springs. Mass of Christian Burial was 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at St. Wilfrid Catholic Church in Woonsocket. Burial followed at the Crow Lake Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was 5-7 p.m., Monday, also at the church, with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Marie was born May 30, 1926, to Fred and Rose Grohs who raised a large family of 8 boys and 2 girls: Herb, Wilfred, Vic, Marie, Jerome, Ralph, Paul, Don, Delores and LeRoy. Her parents and brothers preceded her, greeting her with whopping stories while they wait for their surviving sister Delores (Grohs) Fuegen to join them.
A large family suited her nne marrying husband Everett Reindl, raising their brood of seven children on the farm, Darwin, Roger, Pam, Les, Nancy, Bruce and Sheila. Nancy and Pam are excited to have her now and are probably making Grandma Grohs’ sugar cookies. Her family grew adding 4 more daughters, Kay, Vicky, Lynn and Paula and 2 more sons, Steve and Bill. Growing yet again with 21 grand kids, 40 great grand kids and 20 greatgreat grand kids.
She took pride in her farm and our home always smelled like heaven with sweets and of course her fresh breads. She sat up many nights nursing sick lambs and sicks kids at the same time – she was our super hero. Her goodness had a wide-open door, as all the neighbors would pull into the driveway and sit down for coffee and a piece of pie. Her friends were many and they loved to square dance, attend street dances and gathered for card parties after long working farm days.
Times changed and took her to town where she cooked for 20 years at the nursing home, caring for friends. She nnished her journey there of course playing bingo to win her pot of nickels.
Mom raised the family in our great faith for our Lord and Mother Mary to be kept in our hearts. Her Rosary was in her hands to the end. If she was here right now she would tell us to say a Rosary, it won’t hurt us and we probably need it. Amen Mom.
