WSHS Blood Drive a Lifesaving Success

The recent Wessington Springs High School Blood Drive, held on Wednesday, April 9, was a tremendous success for both the school and the local community! Thanks to the dedication of high school students who actively recruited their peers, faculty, and community members, an incredible 37 donors stepped forward to give the gift of life.

Blood donation is essential, and young donors play a critical role in maintaining the community’s blood supply. Many of our most dedicated donors are aging out of eligibility, which is why young donors are critical in ensuring hospitals have the resources they need. The students at Wessington Springs High School have truly stepped up to help meet this urgent need. By participating in blood donation, young people are not only saving lives today but also securing the future of our healthcare system.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Charlotte Mohling, the senior class and the Freshman Leadership class who helped call and worked tirelessly to make this blood drive a success. Additional gratitude to Jill Braun for her coordination behind the scenes and to the Rec Center for hosting the drive.

“The students took full ownership of this event, and their efforts truly paid off. Because of their commitment, the donations collected at this drive will support not only Avera Weskota Memorial Hospital but also 40 hospitals across South Dakota. Their dedication has a direct and lasting impact on patients in need.”

We would like to celebrate and extend a special thank you to all the first-time LifeServe donors and those who have reached incredible donation milestones:
