WSHS Spring Play Kills

This past weekend the WSHS Students held the play “Too Many Detectives at the Murder Mansion,” a comedic murder mystery by Ian McWethy. Under the guidance of Director Katie Jackson, the cast performed three times over the course of two days: Friday April 17 and Saturday April 18.

As part of the play cast, I felt the performance was a success and brought plenty of laughs to the community. Katie did a good job directing and keeping the cast members enthusiastic about their parts. I got the opportunity to play both Frank Hardy and Fred Jones from Scooby Doo for Saturday’s performances, and I learned that playing two different characters is fun and can show the range of the person playing the parts.

Damien Knippling, who played Sam Spade and Fred Jones for the Friday performance, says he “enjoyed being able to act for the community, and he will miss play practice.” He further discussed how he felt the play was well-received.

This sentiment continued as we interviewed other students and staff who had seen the play. Ethan Amick stated that “Batman (played by Holden Jackson) had a lot of charisma that was comedic.” The interpretive dance by Daphne (played by Lily Roesler) and Fred was also a highlight.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Julie Fastnacht was not able to direct the play as she had originally planned. Katie Jackson graciously stepped in to fill the roll and did a fantastic job. We are grateful to all the community members who came to support our efforts.
