Greetings Wessington Springs Community. We are officially back in school for the 2026-27 school year. The first few days have been great. It is an exciting time for students, school staff, parents and the community. We are looking forward to a great school year.

Horizon Health Celebrates Legacy of Innovative Care

Horizon Health joins community health centers around the country this August to celebrate National Health Center Week and this year’s theme, “Building Innovative Care Where It Matters Most”. Horizon has a long history of innovative thinking.

One Last “Cuppy’s Corner”

On Monday, July 27, 2026, Grandma had a busy day. After the whirlpool bath, for breakfast she ate cereal, boiled egg, and cup of fresh fruit. Grandma wants to send happy anniversary wishes to Fred and Cindy Zenk and Ryan and Alisha Bell. Candi had a couple of her grandkids out to visit.

A century ago neighborhood ladies would collect news and submit it for publication in the weekly newspapers. They wrote about new babies, lost lives, weddings, barn raising, crop reports, weather, recipes, quilting bees and anything of interest in their area.

When I bought the True Dakotan in 2015, one of the first people to stop by my office was Darleen Cuppy.She looked at me with a smile and asked, “Well, I suppose you're going to stop publishing my news.”I smiled back and assured her that I had no intention of doing any such thing.

Greetings, Wessington Springs Community. It is hard to believe but our summer break is about over and school days will be starting soon. I know kids do not want to hear that message. However, I also know that when students come back to school they will be excited and ready to go.

On Monday, July 20, 2026, the morning activity was dice game. Becky asked Grandma if she got her fun and fitness movement in by throwing the dice? Grandma likes her fingernails painted pink but didn’t get them touched up this week as she thinks they still look so good.
