News from District 20 Legislators

We have rounded the crossover corner for this year and are on the downhill side of the 98th legislative session. I’ll touch on a couple of bills that I’ve worked on this session. Although I’ve been tasked with carrying many others for different organizations or Representatives.

SALVATION IS ALL ABOUT GRACE

Ash Wednesday? What is the significance of this religious ritual many gather to practice? Participants gather at their local worship center, come before the officiant and allow an ashen cross to be drawn upon their forehead.

UNITY IN PRAYER

Luke 18:1 says, “And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.” Jesus was teaching his disciples with this parable, the details of which I won’t go into because the purpose of the story was to teach them perseverance in prayer.

Reducing the risk for our most vulnerable

I have said it before and I will say it again. We are all sick of hearing about Covid 19 – actually I’m sick of writing about it. But……. it just won’t go away. The good news is that rates of new covid infections have declined across the country.

We all want to protect kids, HB 1080 fails to help with this goal

Dear Editor, I recently returned from the Dist. 20 legislative Cracker Barrel (Fri 2/10). There was a spirited discussion of HB 1080 – a bill to “prohibit certain medical and surgical interventions on minor patients.” The bill has recently passed both houses of the legislature with wide margins.
