Senior libero Remie Roduner of Wessington Springs High School reached a major volleyball milestone on Saturday, Oct. 4, when she recorded her 1,000th career dig during the 281 Conference Tournament.
“It means a lot to me to accomplish this milestone,” Roduner said. “It’s always been a goal of mine to get to this point, and I’m even more grateful that I’m able to keep the count going throughout the rest of my senior season.”
Roduner admitted she had her eye on the schedule as her dig total climbed.
“When I got to under 100 left, I started looking at the schedule to see when I might get it,” she said. “I really wanted to be able to reach this milestone in front of all the people who have supported me throughout the last four years. I’m very thankful that I was able to reach 1,000 at home.”
Growth Through Teamwork
Roduner credits the people around her, coaches, teammates and the Springs volleyball community for shaping her as both a player and a person.
“The biggest impact on my volleyball career has been the people and the moments that pushed me to grow,” she said. “My teammates have become like family. They’ve taught me how to trust, communicate, and keep going even when things get tough. I’ve learned to believe in myself, especially after hard games or setbacks, and that confidence has changed the way I play and the way I see myself.”
Looking Ahead
Though her plans after graduation are still taking shape, Roduner said she’s giving herself time to think about her future.
“I’m not completely sure what my plans are yet, but I’m taking time to figure out what I really want to do and what feels right for me after high school,” she said.
As for now, she remains focused on helping lead the Spartans through the remainder of her senior season.
A Grateful Senior
Roduner expresses heartfelt thanks to the Springs volleyball community.
“I just want to say a big thank you to my teammates, community, school, coaches and family for being my biggest supporters. Volleyball has given me the best support system I could ask for, and I’m so grateful for everyone who’s been part of this journey.”
