Post-Season Journey Leads to “Night of the Spartans”

Last Tuesday’s Region 5B quarterfinals saw the Spartans deliver a convincing win against Avon, 62-36, in front of a big home crowd. Ryder Michalek topped 1,000 points for his career during the contest and Parker Graff led the Spartans with 20 points.

WSHS ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES HONORED

Spartans fans from near and far packed the bleachers last month to welcome the newest inductees to the WSHS Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame committee member and longtime newspaper publisher, editor and sports writer Craig Wenzel served as the evening’s emcee.

Wessington Springs High School junior Holden Havlik placed second in the 215 weight class at the State B 2024 Boys Wrestling Tournament. He and two other members of the Wessington Springs / Woonsocket / Wolsey-Wessington wrestling team placed on the state’s biggest stage for the sport.
