Wessington Springs High School junior Holden Havlik placed second in the 215 weight class at the State B 2024 Boys Wrestling Tournament. He and two other members of the Wessington Springs / Woonsocket / Wolsey-Wessington wrestling team placed on the state’s biggest stage for the sport.

BY HEAD GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH JASON KOLOUSEK The Wessington Springs Spartans girls basketball team traveled to Kimball last Tuesday and defeated Kimball/ White Lake by a score of 58-37. The Spartans got off to a good start and led 16-10 after one quarter of play.

LADY SPARTANS ARE 6-0 IN REGULAR SEASON 281 CONFERENCE PLAY

On Thursday, February 8 the Spartans girls basketball team hosted a 17-1 Warner girls team. The Spartans got off to a good start and held a 16-10 lead after one quarter of play. Warner made a come back in the 2nd quarter by outscoring the Spartans 15-9 and the game was tied at 25 at halftime.

WSHS Athletic 2024 Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

The 2024 Wessington Springs High School Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees have been announced and will be recognized at an event February 23 during the halftime of the Spartans vs. Woonsocket home game in Wessington Springs. Inductees are: Dennis Christensen, Jim Higgins, Brenda Lee and Tim Sorsen.

Wessington Springs, 62 Iroquois/Lake Preston, 42 Wessington Springs took down Iroquois/ Lake Preston 62-42. Four Spartans were in double figures, led by Parker Graff’s 17 points. Colby Flowers had 12 points, Blake Larson had 11 points and Ryder Michalek had 10 points for WS.

Wessington Springs, 59 Iroquois/Lake Preston, 49 Last Tuesday the Wessington Springs Spartans hosted Iroquois/ Lake Preston in a doubleheader. In the girls game, the Spartans defeated Iroquois/Lake Preston by a score of 59-49.
