Tuesday, January 23 Wessington Springs – 39 Andes Central/Dakota Christian – 53 The Wessington Springs Spartans traveled to Dakota Christian to take on AC/DC. The Spartans were defeated by a score of 53-39. AC/DC started strong and led the Spartans 22-8 after one quarter of play.

WSHS Alumni Part of Team to Break Northern State School Record

Northern State University track and field traveled to SDSU to compete in day one of the D2/NAIA Open. The men’s 4x800m relay broke the school record with a time of 7:52.

The anticipation is high as the stage is set for the 281 Conference Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball Tournaments, set to tip off this weekend. The spotlight is on Wessington Springs, which clinched the top seed in both categories.

Spartans Face Tough Battle Against Ethan's 3-Point Barrage, Fall Short 61-48 Despite Strong Efforts

On Friday the Spartans traveled to Ethan to take on one of the top teams in girls basketball. The Spartans traded baskets with Ethan to start the game, but Ethan kept making 3s and the Spartans trailed 20-10 after one quarter of play. Ethan made six, 3-point shots in the first quarter.

The Spartans brought home a big win after battling it out against Ethan on the road last Friday, January 5, emerging victorious 49-- 38. Parker Graff led with 16 points, followed by Ryder Michalek with 15 points. Blake Larson (shown above) had 8 points, Colby Flowers finished with 7 and Karter Mebius had 3.
