SPARTANS EARN PINK BATON AT LEZLIE BLASIUS MEMORIAL MEET

On Friday, May 13, 2022, we traveled to Kimball to participate in the Lezlie Blasius Memorial meet. In girls discus, Haeleigh Mulder threw 67’ 5”, Avery Orth threw 65’ 7”, and Brooklyn Caffee threw 65’ 1”. In girls long jump, Masynn Mebius landed 12’ 1”. In shot put, Avery threw 34’ 2.

Spartans Compete in Meet of Legends

On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, the Spartans were able to load the bus and travel down to Burke, SD, for the Meet of Legends track & field meet. The weather was cool and damp as we arrived that morning. The clouds hung on and then finally broke allowing the sunshine to come through.

Fifteen area youth competed at the 4-H State Shooting competition held April 22-24 in Pierre, SD. Youth practice alongside coaches in their chosen disciplines throughout the shooting sports season starting in January. Jerauld/ Buffalo offers BB gun, Air Pistol, Air Rifle and Archery.

Spartan Golfers On Par For Strong Season

Midway through an already successful Spartan golf season, with 23 golfers — 13 of which are at the junior high level — Head Golf Coach Regina Teveldal said the future is bright for the Wessington Springs Middle/ High School golf program.

With the end of the school year approaching, spring sports continue to fill the calendar. Track and golf have been in full swing, however, the weather has not cooperated and has cut short many of the meets for both sports. That hasn’t stopped them from preparing and getting extra practices in.

OFF AND RUNNING WITH THE SPARTANS

On Monday, April 25, 2022, Wessington Springs hosted a Junior High track meet out at Spartan Stadium. Events were held for two divisions, 7th and 8th grade. In the relays if you had both 7th and 8th grade kids on one relay, they had to run in the 8th grade division.

Spartans Gain at Greenway Relays

On Friday, April 22, 2022, the Spartans traveled to Mt. Vernon to participate in the Greenway Relays. The weather looked favorable to get this first meet for some in and only our second meet of the season. This was a huge meet, with around twenty teams participating, from all three classes.

OFF AND RUNNING WITH THE SPARTANS

On Friday, April 8, 2022, Mother Nature finally allowed us to have our first track meet of the season. We traveled to Redfield to participate in the H/T Patriot Meet. Due to other school commitments, we didn’t take the full squad. What kids we were able to take did very well.
