Community Supper Draws a Crowd to Main Street

Following the Sons of American Legion Poker Run Saturday which drew 10 bikes, one slingshot and four vehicles, the Sons invited the community as a whole to Main Street in Wessington Springs for supper and live music.

Locals and visitors filled the tables lining Main Street, enjoying abundant sunshine and mild weather during the grill out. The Good Ole Boys entertained the crowd, creating what organizers called a “mini street dance” feel throughout the evening.

In addition to the Sons selling 50/50 tickets, the American Legion sold Roxor side-by-side raffle tickets set to be drawn at the South Dakota State Fair on September 2, 2024.

The Sons of the American Legion was created in 1923 as an organization within The American Legion. It is made up of boys and men of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the United States military and became eligible for membership in The American Legion. Some membership dues go towards advocating for Veterans at the State and DC level.

Proceeds from this event will go towards the Legion Baseball fund and Veteran recognition at cemeteries.
