Highway 281 Becomes a Runway for Warbird Homecoming Spirit

Warbird pride was on full display Friday as Wolsey-Wessington’s Homecoming parade brought animated movie magic to South Dakota Highway 281. Each fall, traffic halts for more than 30 minutes while the community celebrates together on the highway-turned-Main Street. This year’s parade winners included: third place, the Class of 1975; second place, 281 Travel Center and the Rolling Wheel; and first place, American Bank & Trust and American Trust Insurance. In the middle school competition, third place went to the sixth grade, second to the eighth grade, and first to the seventh grade with their float themed after Shrek. For the high school division, the freshmen and sophomores tied for second place, while the juniors claimed top honors with their Lorax float. Congratulations to the Class of 2027 for bringing home the win!
