Primary election set for June 2 with most races unopposed
Petitions have been filed for several county offices in Jerauld County ahead of the 2026 primary election, set for June 2, with most races unopposed. However, voters in County Commission District No. 3 will see a contested race on the ballot.
County Commission
• District No. 1: Curt John Olinger (D) filed for the seat.
• Darold J. Rounds (R) also filed but has since withdrawn.
• District No. 3: Walter Hein Jr. (R) and Collin Angus Anson (R) have both filed, setting up the county’s only contested race.
• District No. 5: DeVonne Marie Losing (R) filed and is unopposed.
County Offices
• Auditor: Shannon Mae Fagerhaug (R)
• Sheriff: Jason L. Weber (R)
• Register of Deeds: Mette J.
Ness (D)
Party Precinct Committeewomen
• Precinct 1: Elizabeth Anne Magistro (R)
• Precinct 2: Marlene Grieve (R)
• Precinct 5: Rochelle Sue Wipf (R)
With only one candidate filing in most races, those candidates will be unopposed unless additional changes occur. The only race currently slated for a vote in the June 2 primary election is County Commission District No. 3, where Hein and Anson will face off.
