Performed by the Wessington Springs Community Choir and narrated by Roger Dwyer last weekend at the Historic 1905 Opera House, the Christmas musical “Peace on Earth” delivered the reminder that Jesus made a way to redeem humanity and bring peace to this world full of suffering.
“With all the unrest in the world today, this musical showcases that there is only one answer for peace on this earth, Jesus,” explained Jan Krohmer, musical director, before the show began. “Through Jesus’ birth, life, crucifixion and mighty resurrection, the Prince of Peace brought redemption for all mankind.”
The choir is made up of: Sopranos - Susan Arnott, Diane Fastnacht, Peg Fagerhaug, Laura Kieser, Abby Kolousek, Amber Kolousek, Katee Olinger and Tenley Olinger; Altos - Julie Fastnacht, Lois Feistner, Andrea Friedrichsen, Pam Hainy, Lila Hoffman, Carol Scheel and Melissa Schimke; Tenors - Gail Arnott, Mike Fastnacht, Pat Fastnacht, Andrew McCormick, Brett Miller, Terry Scheel and Dale Schimke; Basses - Brian Amick, Lennis Fagerhaug, Blake Miller, Joel Sorben.
The performance was presented by Springs Area Council of the Arts (SACOTA) and admission was a free will offering. Proceeds from the performance will be directed to future SACOTA programs and the preservation and upkeep of the Historic 1905 Opera House.
