The halls were decked, the trees were trimmed with candy canes and silver lanes aglow — but mother Nature had other ideas that didn’t include area citizens venturing out to attend the Jerauld County Courthouse’s annual community event, “Christmas at the Courthouse.”
Jerauld County employees decided to extend the festive display to this week, with plenty of snacks and treats to serve up to attendees as they tour the courthouse and view the dazzling displays decorated by area individuals, organizations and businesses.
The Parade of Trees at the courthouse always rises to the top of the must-do list during the holiday season. In recent years, Jerauld County employees have added wreaths to the event and new this year, nativity scenes were added to the display.
“We really encourage the community to stop by and view these truly beautiful displays,” said Teresa Fonder, Extension/4-H Secretary, Deputy Auditor for the county. “We have plenty of treats and snacks and hope that the warmer weather this week allows for safer, more comfortable travel conditions to come out to the courthouse.”
In addition to serving coffee, cider and snacks, attendees will also have the opportunity to sign up for a door prize during regular business hours this week.
