Alpena - Owen Kunze American Legion Post 116 will host a Memorial Day Service with speaker, Karen Scherschligt Harrington on Monday, May 30, 2022, in the Alpena Community Center at 4 p.m., assisted by the Wolsey Hershman-Gordon American Legion Post 59. A free-will donation meal will follow the program.

Gann Valley - Memorial Day at Gann Valley begins at St. Placidus Duncan Cemetery with the Abernathy American Legion Post No. 16 posting their colors at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 30, 2022. A program will be held at the Gann Valley Fire Hall starting at 10:30 a.m. with featured speaker Lanny Olson. Following the program, the American Legion will post colors at Spring Hill Cemetery followed by a potluck dinner at the Gann Valley Fire Hall at noon. Everyone welcome.

Wessington Springs - Friday night, May 27, 2022, at 7 p.m., the American Legion Post No. 14 will raise flags, place poppy wreaths on veterans’ graves and place Flanders Field with crosses at Prospect Hill Cemetery for Monday’s program. On Memorial Day, May 30, American Legion members will raise the Avenue of Flags at the Jerauld County Courthouse at 7 a.m. A program will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery starting at 11 a.m. with the Legion serving military rights. The featured speaker is Chris Schimke. The American Legion and Auxiliary will host a potluck dinner at 12 p.m. at the Legion Hall. The public is invited to participate in any or all Legion events.
