Star-Spangled Celebration in Springs

Community members, visitors, friends and family donned in red, white and blue filled the streets on Monday, July 4 to take part in the annual Wessington Springs Fourth of July parade. Sticking to the “Good ‘Ol Days” theme of this year’s parade, area businesses, individuals and organizations displayed their floats down the parade route that began on College Avenue, made its way down Main Street and ended at Weskota Manor Avera. Parade prizes were sponsored by Farm Bureau Financial Services/South Dakota Farm Bureau Health Plans/Jerauld, Sanborn and Aurora Farm Bureau. Winners include Most Patriotic: American Legion, Most Humorous: Corn Palace Hillbillies, Best Tractor: 1953 Model A John Deere-Clark Heydon, Best Car or Pickup: 1965 Studebaker-Neal Barber, Best Golf Cart or: 4x4: Woodruff Family, Best Horse Entry No Name Branders-Kayla Mohling and Aleen Fisher , Best Horse Drawn: Bill Zoss, Best Big Rig/Farm Equipment: Budde Septic, Best Motorcycle: Legion Riders, Best Overall Entry: Farm Bureau Four Generations Bergeleen Family.
