Families returned to Wessington Springs School District for Back-to- School Night on Monday, August 18, 2025 with smiles and backpacks full of supplies, despite ongoing construction on 2nd Street.

Superintendent Dr. Michael Ormsmith said the elementary school parking lot was completed last Friday and is already in use, though access is currently limited to a temporary entrance on the far east side of the lot. Visitors are asked to pull into the east gravel lot and enter the concrete lot from the north side. Traffic barrels and cones mark closed areas, while most of the lot remains open. Dr. Ormsmith thanks families for their patience and understanding as the project continues.
